Grundfos announces the establishment of a global Mobility te

2021-03-03

Grundfos, a global leader in water pumps and water technology solutions, announced the establishment of a Mobility team to focus on providing sustainable and intelligent water pump and water technology solutions for automobile, train, airplane and ship manufacturers worldwide to help them optimize Water and energy use footprint. The team is under the Grundfos Industrial Division, led by Grundfos Senior Sales Director Peter Kiaer, and brings together industry experts in the transportation field to support the green transformation and development of the industry.

The Grundfos Mobility team was established at the right time. On the one hand, people are paying more and more attention to climate change and environmental protection; at the same time, governments and the public around the world have put forward higher requirements for sustainable development. In response to these trends, automakers have also accelerated their investment in green production and optimized transformation. Among them, more and more manufacturers regard new energy vehicles as new development opportunities. Take China as an example. Since 2015, my country's production, sales, and ownership of new energy vehicles have ranked first in the world for five consecutive years. In October 2020, the General Office of the State Council issued the "New Energy Automobile Industry Development Plan (2021-2035)", which clarified the development route of the new energy automobile industry in the next 15 years, and proposed that "By 2025, the sales volume of new energy vehicles and new vehicles will reach "About 20% of the total sales of new automobiles" is a phased development goal. By 2035, the plan proposes that "my country's new energy vehicle core technology reaches the international advanced level, pure electric vehicles become the mainstream of new sales vehicles, and public vehicles are fully electrified", which provides important guidance for the development of the new energy vehicle industry.

It is estimated that the production of a car consumes about 148 cubic meters of water [1] and produces a lot of waste water. At the same time, in 2016 alone, carbon dioxide emissions from the transportation industry accounted for a quarter of global carbon emissions [2]. Therefore, it is of great significance for automakers to accelerate the green transformation. By optimizing the use of water and energy in the industry, the auto industry is expected to have a profound impact on global sustainable development.

Peter Kiaer said: "The transportation industry is undergoing a profound green transformation, and sustainable development has become the strategic focus of all transportation tool manufacturers today. Water pumps and water technology solutions are a key part of the industrial process and are responsible for green energy conservation. The transformation of Grundfos has given Grundfos a unique mission in the automotive industry chain. Our solutions can help customers optimize water use, reduce the impact of industrial waste on the environment, and improve energy and operational efficiency. The Mobility team will meet the standards Lanfu’s distributors go hand in hand to better help customers achieve more environmentally friendly production practices."

"Grundfos is an enterprise with sustainable development as its core. We are encouraged to have the opportunity to work with more partners to improve the global environment." said Liu Hongcong, senior vice president of Grundfos Industrial Division: "Established The dedicated Mobility team is very much in line with our philosophy of promoting sustainable operation, which is to achieve more efficient energy use and water saving efficiency through continuous breakthroughs in possibilities."

With the deepening of Industry 4.0 reform, Grundfos is also constantly improving, developing smarter and more integrated water pumps and water technology solutions to help customers' digital transformation, so as to stand out from the competition in the industry. Prior to this, a series of Grundfos smart products have been launched. Grundfos' iSolutions smart solution goes beyond a single component and optimizes the entire system. Since its launch in 2017, it has helped customers in all walks of life achieve performance upgrades. The Grundfos intelligent monitoring system incorporates the entire life cycle of the pump equipment into management, and monitors the daily status, post-maintenance, efficiency and energy consumption of the pump throughout the entire process, and provides a reliable reference for users' optimization schemes based on data.

Grundfos’ Mobility team will prioritize customers in the automotive industry in Japan, China, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States. In the future, the team will continue to expand the talent team and product portfolio to better meet the needs of the global transportation industry.
